The Alert4All Project, coordinated by DLR, is a EU-funded collaborative project in the frame of the 3rd REA Security Call that develops an advanced concept for alert and communications towards the population in crisis situations from a European perspective.

LDACS-NAV
To meet the challenges of future Air-Traffic Management (ATM), aeronautical communication and navigation technologies are currently modernized. In communications, the air-ground communications standard LDACS (L-band Digital Aeronautical Communications System) is under development. The main goal of the DLR internal project LDACS-NAV (LDACS Navigation) is to advance the LDACS technology candidate LDACS1 to include navigation functionality. The feasibility of this approach is proved by in-flight measurements.

SANDRA - Seamless Aeronautical Networking through integration of Data links Radios and Antennas
The overall air transportation sector is currently under significant stress. With the demand in aircraft operations expected at least to double by the 2025 timeframe, there are well-founded concerns that current air transportation systems will not be able to accommodate this growth. Existing systems are unable to process and provide flight information in real time, and current processes and procedures do not provide the flexibility needed to meet the growing demand.

TOPGAL
Total Performance concept for GBAS based Automatic Landings. TOPGAL ist ein DLR-internes Projekt, in welchem die Leistungsfähigkeit einer auf GBAS basierenden Navigation und deren Kopplung mit dem Flight- Management-System und dem Autopiloten evaluiert werden. Ein sogenanntes GBAS (Ground Based Augmentation System) ermöglicht es Flugzeugen Satellitennavigationssignale so zu nutzen, dass damit eine sichere, zuverlässige und hochpräzise Flugführung bis hin zur automatischen Landung gewährleistet wird.

WHERE/2
WHERE ist ein von der europäischen Kommission gefördertes Projekt. Es soll neue Wege aufzeigen, die Synergien zwischen Mobilfunk und Navigation zu nutzen. Die Hauptziele des Projektes sind zum einen die Steigerung der Effizienz zukünftiger mobiler drahtloser Kommunikationssysteme, zum anderen die Erhöhung der Genauigkeit funkgestützter Navigationssysteme.
