The research group „Satellite Communications Techniques“ is concerned with new transmission techniques and new concepts for future satellite communications systems. Main targets are the improvement of bandwidth and power efficiency, the improvement of transmission quality, higher throughput and data rates, and the development of new application areas. All kinds of satellite systems are taken into account, mobile and broadband systems, systems for commercial or governmental use, or systems for space exploration.
Research areas of the group are:
Channel Measurements and Channel Modeling for Mobile and Broadband SatComs
Fade Mitigation Techniques for Satellite Systems
Air Interface and Receiver Design
Protocol Design and Verification
Very High Throughput Satellite Systems
GEO Data Relais
SDR and FPGA Testbeds
The group is conducting system- and protocol simulations for performance analysis as well as demonstrations and measurements. Experimental satellite terminals are available for the demonstration of new algorithms and transmission techniques.
