Broadband Systems Group

This group is currently working in the field of satellite navigation, with a focus on signal processing, and on the combination of satellite navigation (GNSS) with communications for context aware systems and transportation applications. In satellite navigation the focus is on measurement campaigns and channel modeling for various scenarios and on synchronisation for navigation receivers. The group has performed extensive measurement campaigns with the goal of characterizing and modeling time-variant multipath characteristics and interference for GNSS. Work builds on these models to develop receiver processing algorithms to combat multipath degradations of positioning accuracy. Combining satellite navigation with communications enables a wide range of new context aware mobile radio services and helps promote the efficient use of heterogeneous networks. Prototyping and demonstration of these services and platforms is carried out within various national an international projects. Further topics of the group include its involvement in the development of applications and technologies for disaster relief support, early warning systems, transportation systems, and indoor positioning.
