Galileo SMF

To the beginning of 2011 the institute was mandated to provide a measurement and analysis service in cooperation with the GSOC for the Galileo FOC satellites.

Aim of the project is to provide the European Commission represented by European Space Agency and their industry partners (Thales Alenia Space) an independent possibility for measurement of the Signal-in-Space (SIS) of the Galileo satellites after their launch and the In-Orbit Test (IOT) phase. Within dedicated measurement campaigns a cross check have to be done to verify the fully functionality over a specific time period. Additionally, other global navigation and communication satellite systems which transmitting their signals in the same frequency range like Galileo shall be analyzed if the signals are interfering in the Galileo signal bandwidths.

For this purpose the 30 meter antenna in Weilheim operated by GSOC and measurement and analysis system developed by the working group is used.
