The DLR-operated High Resolution Stereo Camera (HRSC) on Mars Express took the images that form this stereo composite Phobos's surface on 7 March 2010. Due to the stereo viewing geometry during the flyby, a small part of the moon's edge is visible only for the right eye, resulting in odd 3D-perception in this area.

The image data were taken from a distance of 130 km with a spatial resolution of about 4.4 meters per pixel during orbit 7915
