Newly discovered spore-forming bacterium named after DLR microbiologist

A new spore-forming bacterium is discovered by Kasthuri Venkateswaran and his group from JPL, CA, USA, in a NASA spacecraft assembly facility. It is named Bacillus horneckiae after the DLR microbiologist Dr. Gerda Horneck who carried out pioneering work in exposing spores to several space and radiation conditions. Main Article
