On June 3rd a seminar on cardiovascular biomedical engineering took place in :envihab. It was attended by about 50 international guests and was organized by Dr. Carole Leguy, researcher at the space physiology division of the DLR-Institute of Aerospace Medicine.
The speeches were held by experts in the field of cardiovascular research and medical robotic who were eager to share and discuss their topics of research and to generate new ideas for future scientific collaboration. The seminar focused on the advances in vascular research, modelling of vascular system, and medical robotic.
The first part of the seminar was dedicated to advances in vascular research which covered topics as cardiac vibration signals analysis, hypertension and arterial wall remodeling mechanism, photoacoustics and ultrasound imaging techniques. The second part of the seminar covered the field of modeling of the vascular system and medical robotic. Analysis of concurrent cardiovascular measurements, a computational model of the cardiovascular response to gravitational stress but also minimal invasive robotic surgery system were presented. Finally, the concept of a cardiovascular robotic assistant was introduced. This seminar has been captivating and has generated many discussions between the presenters and the attendees that we hope will lead to new common research projects and bring advances in the field of vascular research.
