Prediction of fatigue – Simulation of operations

Mathematical models of dynamics in fatigue will be used to predict phases with high fatigue during traffic operations. Field data obtained from drivers of different transport modes (e.g. truck, aeroplane, rail transport) are collected to validate the model parameters. Based on these models of fatigue, we have developed a computer program called ALERT. The program enables the user to obtain predictions of fatigue during different patterns of working. It allows drivers and transport managers to plan operations and rosters and will also give hints on how to prevent periods of high fatigue by optimizing breaks.
