Anja Bauermeister receives “Helmholtz-Doktorandenpreis”
(Helmholtz-Award for Doctoral Candidates) in Berlin today

Today Anja Bauermeister, staff member of the department Radiation Biology, will be awarded with the “Helmholtz-Doktorandenpreis” in the section “Luftfahrt, Raumfahrt und Verkehr” on the annual meeting of the Helmholtz Association in Berlin.

She receives this award for her PHD Thesis: „Characterization of stress tolerance and metabolic capabilities of acidophilic iron-sulfur-transforming bacteria and their relevance to Mars”. This thesis was developed in the context of the „Helmholtz Alliance - “Planetary Evolution and Life” at the Institute of Aerospace Medicine (DLR Cologne) in cooperation with Prof. Dr. H.-C. Flemming, University of Duisburg-Essen.

The aim of the “Helmholtz-Doktorandenpreis” is to acknowledge the scientific work in the past and to support further research activities.
