Research Field:

Gravitational Biology of Cells

Topic:

Influence of macrophages on salt balance under altered gravity conditions

DLR Supervisor:

PD Dr. Ruth Hemmersbach

University Supervisor:

Prof. Kolanus, Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn

Education:

  • Degree: Diploma Human Biology, Philipps-Universität Marburg
  • Study of Human Biology

Experience:

  • Title of Diploma Thesis: Examination of colocalization of the neuropeptide CGRP with ACh in parasympathetic neuronal and epithelial non-neuronal cell populations of the mouse Internship at the Center for Molecular Medicine, Karolinska Intitutet, Stockholm, Sweden
  • Internship at Roche Diagnostics GmbH labs, Penzberg, Germany
  • Student teaching assistant at the Institute for Anatomy and Cell Biology, Philipps-Universität Marburg; supervisor of practical exercises and seminar in neurobiology for human biology students

Research Interests:

How macrophages react to changing salt concentrations under altered gravity conditions (for example during parabolic flights, in clinostats, on centrifuges); effects on signal transduction cascades, e.g. those resulting in activation of the transcription factor NF-κB.
