In July 2010, we had the chance to take part in the biggest conference about space research, which was this time located in Bremen and lasted one week. It was the 38th Committee of Space Research Scientific Assembly, bringing together about 3800 participants from 58 different countries. The whole conference was opened by an impressive ceremony, followed by an even more spectacular opening reception, bringing the “Bremer Freimarkt” inside the conference hall.
The conference program offered a wide variety of presentations from different research fields with scientific commissions and sub-commissions, and it took some time to orientate in the large amount of events. Besides listening to presentations concerning our field of research, we were able to listen to interdisciplinary lectures, dealing with climate change, the volcanic ash cloud over Europe and a lot more. Each of us brought a poster which was presented to the visitors by the end of the week.
Some less scientific program was also offered and we had the chance to visit the Mars exhibition and some beautiful spots in Bremen.
After one week of gaining all these impressions we are definitely hoping to take part in the next COSPAR conference, which will take place in India…
