Another Price: SpaceLife Doctoral Candidate Arif Ali Chishti received the 3rd poster price at the 50th Annual Meeting of the German Society for Aviation and Space Medicine

Arif Ali Christi after receiving the 3rd poster award with his supervisors Dr. Christa Baumstark-Khan and Dr. Christine Hellweg.
The 50th Annual Meeting of the German Society for Aviation and Space Medicine (DGLRM Jahrestagung in Sinsheim, Germany – “50 Jahre Deutsche Gesellschaft für Luft- und Raumfahrtmedizin”) was held from 8th to 10th September 2011 at the Hotel Sinsheim. The participants were warmly welcomed by DGLRM President Dr. Claudia Stern. During the two intense meeting days, two parallel scientific sessions were running. “I attended the sessions about Aerospace Medicine, Human Factors in General Aviation, Extreme Environments, Weightlessness and Radiation,” Arif Chishti tells.

Besides the scientific lectures a tour to the Technik Museum Sinsheim was also included. During a movie at the IMAX 3-D cinema, all participants were fascinated by very impressive images made by the space telescope Hubble and the tremendous effort that was made for maintenance of the telescope. To top the evening off, a reception at the “American Dream Car Exhibition” in the Technik Museum followed.

After interesting sessions and intense discussions, the meeting participants assembled close to the Concorde platform for a get-together. During the barbecue, poster prices for the most convincing posters were given to three young scientists. Arif Chishti was awarded the 3rd Poster prize: “DGLRM provided a great opportunity to me to give my 1st poster presentation in German. It was a great experience to get to know new research work in the field of aerospace medicine - it broadens my research insight and vision.”
