During the last decade the DLR OS department optical information has carried out different scanner development in the UV/VIS/NIR-and IR area. The special expertise of the OS department has concentrated on the system during the development and pre-development phase. The close collaboration with the three main departments has played a significant role in this development.
The scanner systems which OS has developed meet all the requirements for measuring instruments especially the radiometrical and geometrical values. These scanner systems which were developed for special requirements in the photogrammetric and remote sensing areas were developed primarily for airborne application. The department RM-OS-ES was responsible, for the development of the hardware.
This team together with the company Leica-geosystem was responsible from 1997 to 2002 for the development of the AD40. And during the years 2000-2004 for the development of high-resolution IR systems for the verification of the sensor for the BIRD-satellite. The team also worked in parallel from 2004-2008 on the development of the multi functional camera system (MFC).
Presently we are further developing cameras and multispectral and hyperspectral systems for high spectral and high spatial resolutions to capture physical spectral phenomena with multi imagery and precise 3D surface images. One of the spin-offs and main value lies in data fusion.
This technology is mainly used for the spectral range UV/VIS/NIR in CCD/CMOS detectors and for TDI and IR MCT or bolometer technologies.
