Am 14. September 2007 startet die japanische Sonde SELENE. An der Mission mit dem Beinamen Kaguya zum Erdtrabanten ist das Deutsche Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt (DLR) wissenschaftlich beteiligt.
