BEST The system was commissioned in the spring 2001 and regular observations of several target fields were performed from July 2001 to April 2003 at the Thüringer Landessternwarte Tautenburg (TLS), Germany. In addition to the data acquired during the TLS phase, the operations also served as a test of the long-time stability of the system. During the autumn 2004 an upgraded version of BEST was relocated to Observatoire de Haute-Provence (OHP), France. After a shorter re-commissioning phase, remote observations from DLR started in spring 2005 with regular observations of the COROT target fields. The operations are planned to continue during the life time of the space mission.
BEST II was implemented at OCA starting in early spring 2007 and after a first commission phase, regular observations of the COROT target fields have been ongoing since early summer 2007. A fully robotic mode of operations was reached in October 2007 allowing full advantage of the excellent photometric conditions of the site during the winter 2007/2008.
