Missionsbeteiligung der Abteilung

Cassini (launch 1997)
http://saturn.jpl.nasa.gov/
Camera: Imaging Science Subsystem (ISS)
http://ciclops.org/
Spectrometer: Visible and Infrared Mapping Spectrometer (VIMS)
Cassini/Huygens is a joint US/European mission to investigate the Saturnian sytem including its rings and Icy satellites. One primary topic of this mission was to bring the Huygens lander to Titan.

Mars Express (launch 2003)
http://www.esa.int/SPECIALS/Mars_Express
Camera: High Resolution Stereo Camera
Spectrometer: Visible and Infrared Mineralogical Mapping Spectrometer (OMEGA)
Mars Express is a European Martian orbiter mission investigating the surface and atmosphere of Mars and its satellites Phobos and Deimos.

Rosetta (launch 2004)
http://www.esa.int/rosetta
Camera: Optical, Spectroscopic, and Infrared Remote Imaging System (OSIRIS)
Spectrometer: Visible and Infrared Thermal Imaging Spectrometer (VIRTIS)
Lander Camera: Rosetta Lander Imaging System (ROLIS)
Rosetta is the European cometray mission. It will arrive in 2014 at the comet Churyumov-Gerasimenko and will orbit it and will deploy a lander to the surface. Rosetta had two flybys with asteroids Steins and Lutetia
during its cruise phase.

Messenger (launch 2004)
http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/messenger
Messenger is a US Mercury Mission which will start its orbital tour around Mercury in 2011 after three succesfull flybys of Mercury.

Venus Express (launch 2005)
http://www.esa.int/SPECIALS/Venus_Express
Camera: Venus Monitoring Camera (VMC)
Venus Express is the European mission to Venus investigating the atmosphere and the magnetic field of Venus. This mission will continue its long-time monitoring activities now in collaboration with the Japanese Venus mission.

DAWN (launch 2007)
http://dawn.jpl.nasa.gov/
Dawn's goal is to characterize the conditions and processes of the solar system's earliest epoch by investigating in detail two of the largest protoplanets (Vesta and Ceres) remaining intact since their formations.

Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (launch 2009)
http://www.nasa.gov/lro/
Camera: Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Camera (LROC)
Laser: Lunar Orbiter Laser Altimeter (LOLA)
The primary objective of LRO is to conduct investigations that prepare for future lunar exploration. Specifically LRO will scout for safe and compelling landing sites, locate potential resources (with special attention to the possibility of water ice) and characterize the effects of prolonged exposure to the lunar radiation environment.

BepiColombo (launch 2013 ?)
http://www.rssd.esa.int/BepiColombo
Laser: BepiColombo Laser Altimeter (BELA)
MERTIS ?
BepiColombo is a joint European/Japanese mission to investigate Mercurys surface, interior, atmosphere, and magnetosphere. It will consist of two satellites orbiting Mercury together.

Asteroidfinder
The DLR mission Asteroidfinder will search for asteroids with orbits completely inside the Earth orbit. These asteroids are difficult to detect from Earth since they ae close to the Sun.

ExoMars (launch 2018 ?)
Panorama-Camera (PANCAM)
ExoMars will be an European Mars rover mission to investigate the surface and sub-surface of Mars. It will also search for possible biosignatures of Martian life.

(Messenger and DAWN are discovery missions, participation on all instruments.)
