About NCPs

The German National Contact Point has been established to intensify the collaboration between different funding programmes for aeronautical research on european, national and "Länder" basis and participating partners. The coordinator for Aeronautics and Space from the Federal ministry of economy and technology has gelegated the implementation of this initiative to the programm management office, hosted by the DLR, to plan and prepare research activities funded by the EU.

What is the NCP good for?

The German National Contact Point supports German companies, that want to participate in the European framework Programme. And German business oder research facilitiy (this includes universities) will be supported in writing a proposal and finding the right partner, either technical or administrative.

The work can be summarised as follows:

• spreading information about the workprogramm for aeronautics and ATM, as well as evaluation results for finished calls 
• fair technicals and administrative support for German applicants and interested new partners
• coordination and adjustment of aeronautical topics in related funding programms
• monitoring and conceptual advancement of the framework programm
• supporting action for the federal ministry in technoogical topics
• exchange experience between other european NCPs and distribute search requests for partners from other countries

The 7th Framework Programme

Research and research-related activities, funded by the European Commission, have been performed in the so called European Framework Programme since 1984. Meanwhile the 7th Framework  Programme (FP 7) has been estabilished to support research between 2007 - 2013. Aeronautics will be covered in the thematic branch of CCooperation/Transport (incl. Aeronautics). The available funding of more than 3 billion Euros will be awarded by annual to bi-annual calls. The calls in 2007 and 2008 are already closed. The next call will be open in 2010.
