EU Programmes

In addition to the national research promotion, the PT-DLR is also in charge of multilateral European programmes. On behalf of the BMBF, the PT-DLR is actively involved in shaping these programmes and in disseminating information to the interested public. Similar to the national research promotion, calls for proposals related to specific research priorities are published on European level; Proposals come from public institutions and from industry.

EU-Bureau of the BMBF

The EU Bureau of the BMBF for the Research Framework Programme (EUB) serves as a first stop for general questions about the EU Research Framework Programme. It furthermore hosts National Contact Points (NCPs) for the “Ideas” and “Capacities” programmes of the EU Research Framework Programme and the Joint Research Center (JRC) and for all “Legal and Finance”-related questions regarding the EU Research Framework Programmes. The NCPs provide free-of-charge advice on the EU Research Framework programme. They also support the responsible departments within the German Ministry of Education and Research in matters related to the EU Research Framework Programme or the European Research Area and accompany the German delegations to the Programme Committee meetings in Brussels which discuss the implementation of the EU programmes. The Contact Point “Women into EU Research” (FiF) is also located at the EUB. In addition, the EUB also renders support regarding European cooperation in the area of education and provides the German Contact and Coordination Point for the EURYDICE programme (i.e. the European information network on education.

The German Portal to the 7th EU Research Framework Programme

The primary objective of the framework programme is to strengthen the scientific and technical foundations of the EU’s industry, to promote the enhancement of its international competitiveness and to support all research projects considered necessary on the basis of other EU policies.

National Contact Point Life Sciences (Nationale Kontaktstelle Lebenswissenschaften-NKS-L)

On behalf of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), the National Contact Point Life Sciences (NKS-L) is responsible for the “life sciences” topics in the 7th Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development’s specific project “Cooperation”. These are specifically Theme 1 "Health" and Theme 2 "Food, Agriculture and Fishing, and Biotechnology". The NKS-L is a shared office staffed by employees from the PT-DLR and PTJ project management agencies at the DLR site in Bonn-Oberkassel.

EUREKA

EUREKA is an initiative for application-orientated research in Europe and provides industry and science with a framework for cross-border collaborative projects.
