Years of Science Bureau
The Federal Ministry of Education and Research (Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung, BMBF) has been hosting the Years of Science with annually varying focus since the year 2000. The Years of Science provide a forum for vibrant and interdisciplinary dialogue between science and society, offering science and research a high-profile platform to present their methods, their questions and achievements, and enabling them to convey their work to the wider public through events and innovative communication measures.
Exporting vocational training
Around the world, education and knowledge, and increasingly vocational education are identified and acknowledged as drivers of innovation, economic growth and prosperity. However, many countries are unable to meet the existing and still growing need for high-level qualifications within their own education systems. Demand, and thus the potential of international education markets, is therefore enormous, in particular in the field of vocational education and training.
Ascot - Technology-based Assessment of Skills and Competencies in VET
Competence assessment increasingly forms the basis of control processes in education policy. Empirically valid determination of educational outcomes is therefore also becoming increasingly important in vocational training. Outcome-oriented competence assessment procedures are designed to make the productivity of training courses, the quality of individual educational institutions and the learning success of individuals measurable. The BMBF funds research and development projects to advance this topic.
