Quality Matters – DLR’s new Quality Representatives

In March, the first of a series of callings was Mr. Andreas Lex who succeeded Mr. Martin Brandthaus in the Space Operations and Astronaut Training at the Oberpfaffenhofen site. Being certified according to DIN EN ISO 9001 as well as matching the requirements of occupational health and safety (DIN 18001), it was the first institute being certified additionally according to the requirements for data security management systems (ISO 27001) last year. Thereby, Mr. Lex resumed the task of supervising and developing a complex quality management system. The Director of Institute, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Felix Huber, as well as the DLR-Quality Management Representative, Mrs. Britta Schade, performed the calling.

Since April, Mr. Markus Prochaska is responsible for an analog complex and extensive system in the Institute of Space Propulsion at Lampoldshausen. He succeeds Mr. Michael Dommers and now is in charge of the integrated management system. Beside the DIN EN ISO 9001, the Environment Management Standard DIN EN ISO 14001 is included and, in addition, the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety according to DIN 18001. Mr. Prochaska was significantly involved in developing the management system from the beginning and since provides the efficient enhancements. The Institute Director, Prof. Dr. Stefan Schlechtriem, Mr. Michael Dommers, and Mrs. Britta Schade congratulated on his new challenge.

Also in April, Mr. Michael Renker replaced Mr. Bernd Schubert in the Institute of Composite Structures and Adaptive Systems at the Braunschweig site. The newly introduced quality management system will be audited first-time at the end of year. Mr. Renker was appointed by the Institute Director, Prof. Dr. Wiedemann, and Mrs. Britta Schade for promoting the certification capability with high commitment. Simultaneously, Mr. Schubert began to develop a quality management system at the Center for Lightweight-Production-Technology at Stade.

In July as well, the quality representative of the Quality and Product Assurance Division changed. Mrs. Stefanie Hölmer followed Mrs. Petra Nitzsche who successfully established the quality management system of the organization in the past six years and managed two certification periods. Mrs. Hölmer plans to develop the stably running system in future. The Vice Chairman of the Executive Board and Chairman of the Quality Board, Mr. Klaus Hamacher, performed the calling together with the Head of Division and DLR’s Quality Management Representative, Mrs. Britta Schade (photo).
