Ground Stations and Communications

Building 140 German Space Operations Center

DLR Ground Station
Weilheim

The DLR ground segment consists of the Mission Control Centres located in Oberpfaffenhofen, a Ground Station located near Weilheim and the Communications Infrastructure.

The Mission Control Centres are mainly located in building 140-3 of the DLR facilities in Oberpfaffenhofen. This is depicted in the figure on the left.

The DLR Ground Station is located in the vicinity of Weilheim and provides a couple of antennas and the related infrastructure. This is depicted in the figure on the right.

The Communications Infrastructure (CI) transfers data, voice and video between the MCCs and the Ground Station, but also between MCCs and external facilities (e.g. further ground stations or payload user centres).
