Mit dem erfolgreichen Start (V-191) einer Trägerrakete vom Typ Ariane 5 ECA am 1. Oktober 2009, 18.59 Uhr Ortszeit (23.59 Uhr MEZ) vom europäischen Weltraumbahnhof Kourou in Französisch-Guyana wurde COMSATBw, der erste Kommunikationssatellit für die Bundeswehr, in den Erdorbit gebracht.
