During the course of the Ariane programme, DLR Lampoldshausen took on more and more responsibility for testing. For the Ariane 3 alone, from 1980 to 1984, the facility ran 35 acceptance tests for the injection heads and two development tests in vacuum conditions at high combustion chamber pressures.
