Oliver Knickel during the first experiment

Oliver Knickel was the only German candidate to take part in the preliminary trial for Mars500. He spent 105 days in the isolation container. During his time 'on board', he conducted various experiments. "The biggest enemy is monotony," he says of his time in isolation.
