Small Satellite Payload Competition
On 25 July 2023, the German Space Agency at DLR’s Small Satellite Payload Competition began. The winners will be provided with a zero-cost small satellite platform for their payload, as well as a flight on a European microlauncher. The small satellite payload must have a mission objective and at least one specific application, for example in the fields of Earth observation, communications or technology qualification.

The German Space Agency at DLR’s Small Satellite Competition 2023
The German Space Agency at DLR launched its Small Satellite Competition on 3 July 2023. Companies and institutions that have their headquarters in the European Union (EU) could take part. The winners will each receive a zero-cost flight opportunity on a European-developed small launch vehicle.

The EPIC EU project: The future of electric propulsion
In space, electric propulsion (EP) thrusters are employed mainly in satellites and the upper stages of launchers. They use electric current to augment fuel efficiency. As the thrust generated by these units is not very strong, they are useful only under outer-space conditions, i.e. in a vacuum where space vehicles are not slowed down by air drag.

EU-Project PERASPERA
The objective of the project PERASPERA is to implement the Strategic Research Cluster "Space Robotics Technologies" in the EU Framework Programme Horizon 2020. This comprises the compilation of a European roadmap which is complementary to national activities.
