Large-scale integrated Galileo/GPS Receiver Chipset

Under leadership of IfEN GmbH in Poing a Bavarian consor-tium has been formed, which is composed of Infineon Tech-nologies AG in Munich, the Fraunhofer Institute for Inte-grated Circuits IIS in Erlangen, the Institute of Geodesy and Navigation of the University FAF Munich and the Institute of Technical Electronics of the University Erlangen-Nuremberg, to develop the first worldwide combined GALI-LEO/GPS receiver chipset for the consumer market.

The aim of the consortium is the development of a large-scale integrated GALILEO/GPS receiver chipset for the free-access and free-of-charge open service of the future European satel-lite navigation system GALILEO in combination with the American GPS. The chipset is designed to equip a broad spectrum of new products of the areas telecommunications, consumer and automotive electronics as well as mobile com-puters (PDA) with location information.
