The Sunrise telescope gondola before the successful test flight in New Mexico in the fall of 2007. The flight aimed at testing the gondola with its newly developed guiding system, the instrument control system and the data storage and communication systems. In place of the One-Meter Sunrise Telescope a smaller telescope was used for taking a series of pictures of the solar surface at different UV wavelengths.
