The data recorded by German Earth observation satellites are available to scientists and students all over the world. Information supplied by, for instance, TerraSAR-X and Tandem-X may be retrieved for research purposes through various data portals. To support and train users of radar-based remote sensing data, the geography department of Jena University in collaboration with DLR launched the SAR-EDU scheme. SAR-EDU comprises an extensive internet portal offering free teaching resources as well as a summer school programme for university teachers, students and technical staff. For the scientific preparation of EnMAP missions we provide simulation data gathered during flight campaigns. Moreover, the EnMAP summer schools teach young scientists the use of mission data. RapidEye data can be obtained by scientific users in Germany through the RESA archive.
