Am 17. November 2011 um 19:38 Uhr Ortszeit (12:38 Uhr Mitteleuropäischer Zeit, MEZ) landete das chinesische Raumfahrzeug Shenzhou-8 planmäßig in der Gansu-Provinz – dem chinesischen Teil der Wüste Gobi. Mit an Bord war die SIMBOX, ein deutsches Forschungslabor für biologische und medizinische Experimente im Miniaturformat.
