In this detailed view, a small-scale but clear pattern of deformation can be seen in the built-up area of Staufen. An initial evaluation of this pattern shows (red area) an elevation of the substrata by approximately three centimetres between January and October 2008. With the aid of a process known as Persistent Scatterer Interferometry, atmospheric interference can be reduced and an accuracy of a few millimetres can be achieved.
