HGF-president visits Oberpfaffenhofen

Due to the visit of Helmholtz-community's president Otmar Wiestler and Mr. John Lewis, a senate comission member of the Helmholtz-community, at the DLR-site in Oberpfaffenhofen, the institute for robotics and mechatronics presented four different research systems: The walking robot Toro; the Lightweight Rover Unit LRU, Humanoid robot Rollin' Justin, which is independently maintaining solarpanels as part of the Meteron project; the project RaceLab which demonstrated human-robot interaction with the help of intuitive user interfaces; and the laboratory for medicial robotics where the waterjet surgery for the cleansing of wounds, the input station for minimally invasive surgery and the newest development on EMG-controlled prosthetics were presented.
