9./10. October 2012, Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany
The use of service-robots for on-orbit servicing of satellites is an attractive alternative to risky and expensive manned space missions, and hence is an active research area at the German Aerospace Center. Virtual Reality (VR) technology provides a mean to simulate and evaluate the interaction of service-robots and potential target satellites in a save and cost-efficient environment.
The goal of this first open workshop "Service in Space - Simulation in VR" is to present our current work to experts on the field and find possible synergies within the community. The two-day programe consists of presentations and invited talks from external experts as well as several demos with our system.
