TRACE

TRACE is a software system for the computation of the three-dimensional unsteady flow in multi-stage compressors and turbine components.

DLR Simulation and Software Technology tasks

DLR Simulation and Software Technology contributed by contracts with MTU Aero Engines and by projects with the DLR Institute of Propulsion Technology to improvements and extensions in TRACE.

Among other things DLR Simulation and Software Technology contributed to the following topics:

  • Parallelization of the version for stationary flows
  • Implementation of a interpolation tool for post processing
  • Extraction of global turbomachinery-specific parameters in TRACE
  • Implementation of an interface to the CGNS file format for restart and result files
  • Implementation of an implicit solver for unstructured grids

At present a linearized Navier-Stokes method based on TRACE for aeroelastic applications is developed.
