Looking into the heart of a flame

Experts as well as laypeople controversially discuss the future of our energy supply. However, they do agree on one thing - we will not be able to do without fossil fuels like petroleum, coal and natural gas for a long time to come. However, the exhaust gases generated by the associated combustion processes burden people and their environment. For this reason the scientists at DLR are really fired up about finding ways to reduce the emission of pollutants while at the same time increasing the efficiency of combustion processes.
