Information about visiting the DLR_School_Lab Göttingen

The program

Students can themselves conduct experiments in small groups in an authentic research environment and get acquainted with the fascinating world of aviation and aerospace. Together with DLR scientists they can explore interesting questions concerning flight physics and flow physics, their everyday world, and natural phenomena. The extent, depth and duration of the program as well as the schedule are arranged in a preliminary discussion with their teachers.

The following experiments are being offered at present:

  • Flight physics - probing the mystery of flight
  • The modular wind tunnel
  • Being onto tornados
  • Flow physics - seeing the invisible
  • Helicopters
  • Noise - getting rid of it
  • Resonance frequencies - the wind as musician
  • Measurement technology - speed is high-tech magic
  • The drop tower
  • Flows around objects - light brings clarity

Schedule

During half-day introductory courses or on visits of several days, students can carry out their experiments between 9 am and 4 pm, Monday to Friday at the DLR_School_Lab.

Groups from whom the trip to Göttingen means a large journey can inquire about lodgings at the local youth hostel (Jugenherberge Göttingen) and obtain information about the city of Göttingen and its sightseeing highlights from the link Stadt Göttingen.
