Important information for your visit

Schedule

A program of instructions is drawn up for each visit together with the teachers. We usually begin around 9 am and finish with a concluding discussion around 3 pm. But we are flexible about this and can take your arrival and departure times into account.

DLR_School_Lab Bremen currently offers nine experiments:

  • Infrared
  • Radar
  • Attitude regulation
  • Propulsion technology
  • Landing navigation
  • Robotics
  • Vacuum
  • Weather in space
  • Weightlessness
  • Sensor systems and analyzing samples

The experiments "Propulsion technology", "Landing navigation", "Robotics" and "Sensor systems and analyzing samples" can be combined to a "Mission to Mars".

In order to give the students an opportunity to become actively involved and then discuss their results in some detail, each group should not have more than five participants. The maximum number of participants should not exceed 25 students.

A day at DLR_School_Lab consists of an introductory tour, a program of experiments, and a final discussion. In the introductory tour you can learn something about the German Aerospace Center and about the research being undertaken at the Institute of Aerospace Systems and we will show you the new laboratory building. And at the very end we request you and your students to evaluate the day's activities.

Safety regulations

For safety reasons the names and addresses of the students and accompanying adults must be supplied in advance. Please send a list of participants about two weeks before your visit to the DLR_School_Lab director. If you want to give your students a certificate confirming their attendance, then this list must be in digital form. The accompanying adult should be ready to supply personal identification.

You are requested to keep together as a group while in the DLR premises. You are not permitted to photograph or film anything at DLR except inside the DLR_School_Lab.

Meals

Due to the lenght of your visit, we schedule a lunch break. On the DLR premises and in the surroundings are no possibilities to buy food or drinks. Please advise your students to bring along their own provisions.

There is no charge for the DLR_School_Lab instruction.
