Launching Workshop

The “enerMENA Launching workshop“ is planned to take place in Cologne from June 29th to July 1st 2011 with the participation of over 25 guests from the academic sector from six Middle east and north African (MENA) countries.
The objective of this workshop is to finalize the preparation of the enerMENA advanced CSP teaching materials. The finalization process of the materials comes after the preparation and two review process. Furthermore, the workshop will mark the beginning of the implementation of advanced CSP Teaching Materials in selected partner universities in the region. Especially the perspectives to integrate the enerMENA teaching scripts in the curricula of the partner universities and vocational schools will be discussed.
Prepared in cooperation between DLR, University of Kassel and the Jülich solar Institute as well as several MENA academic institutions, the first of their kind teaching materials cover the widest spectrum of CSP technologies, in which they include the various aspects of CSP technology. This is ranging from technical up to economic and environmental issues. After going through the first review round by DLR scientists, the scripts will be reviewed by MENA professors at partner institutions. Besides defining strategies for the implementation of the teaching materials at partner universities in the MENA region, the reviewers amongst other participants will present the results of their reviews in the framework of the workshop.
Representatives from Al-Baath University in Homs, The University of Jordan, Cairo University, the German University in Cairo, the Engineers’ School at the University of Tunis, Technopol Tunisia, Oran University, CDER Algeria, Universite Mohamed Premier in Oujda and the National Engineers’ School in Rabat participating in the workshop.
An important event is organized in the framework of the enerMENA Launching Workshop; we are glad to host the annual meeting of the Supervisory Board of the Desertec University Network (DUN).
