The second enerMENA Internship has started on June 25th at at Plataforma Solar in Almeria, Spain. Fifteen students from Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt and Libya are learning in a two weeks intensive practical training about Concentrating Solar Power Technologies and their application.
After a short introduction to the PSA, CIEMAT, DLR and the enerMENA project The first day was dedicated to operation of different technologies, such as parabolic trough, direct steam generation, solar tower and solar furnace and dish technology.
Solar power applications for Desalination, disinfection and detoxification have been explained, before the main part started with optical characteristics, optical and thermal measurement techniques, reflector materials and meteorology.
On the last day an excursion to the Fresnel power plant Puerto Errado in Calasparra, Murcia will round up the program.
The enerMENA Internship is an excellent opportunity for the students to study at Europes biggest Test Platform for Concentrating Solar Power and will strengthen the collaboration and understanding among the enerMENA partners.
