Starting The Cooperation

enerMENA Orientation Workshop in Cologne, May 2010
Within the framework of the enerMENA project, an Orientation Workshop was held on May 27 and 28 in Cologne. The objective of the workshop was the commencement of the cooperation and to prepare advanced teaching materials on Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) Technology. This material will be used to lecture students in higher education in the partner countries of enerMENA. The intention is to establish a qualified capacity of graduates in the MENA (middle east north African) region to cover the anticipated high demand of qualified work force in the CSP development sector.

Besides enerMENA staff, representatives of higher education institutions from Jordan, Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco, a representative from the German Academic Exchange Services (DAAD) as well as a participant from the German industry were invited. This resulted in forming an active network of scientists and professionals to promote the objectives of the program. The participants agreed on setting a reviewer panel for the preparation of the teaching materials. The participants also agreed upon a schedule for the project activities.
