GlassPoint installs BPI’s new sensor CSR460 for the first time in a solar thermal steam plant in Oman

The DLR Institute of Solar Research has developed jointly with Black Photon Instruments (BPI), a spin-off of the Fraunhofer ISE, a new optical sensor to measure circumsolar radiation. It enables the operators of solar thermal plants to measure the circumsolar radiation on site. The new technology is now applied for the first time in a commercial solar thermal steam plant in Southern Oman that was built by GlassPoint Solar for Petroleum Development Oman (PDO). more ...

SFERA project will continue for another four years

Friday, 11 April 2014On January 27th representatives of the member organizations of SFERA, including members of staff of the DLR Institute of Solar Research, met at the headquarters of the Spanish research center CIEMAT in Madrid to launch the continuation of the SFERA project. It is is funded by the European Commission since 2009 and aims at promoting the CSP research in Europe. more ...

Rund 230 Fachleute für Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) aus Industrie und Forschung waren der Einladung des Instituts für Solarforschung zum 16. DLR Sonnenkolloquium nach Köln gefolgt. Im Fokus stand dieses Jahr das Thema „CSP – Made in Germany“. Das DLR und führende deutsche CSP-Unternehmen präsentierten den Kongressteilnehmern Ergebnisse und Erfahrungen aus Forschung und Praxis. Erstmalig in diesem Jahr hatten die Teilnehmer die Möglichkeit ihr Unternehmen oder Institut im Rahmen einer Posterausstellung zu präsentieren. more ...

On the "ASME 6th International Conference on Energy Sustainability" was the conference contribution of Dipl.-Ing. Siw Meiser from the Institute of Solar Research awarded a Best Paper Award. The award was won by the DLR research team of engineers and physicists with the co-authors Dipl.-Ing Christoph Kleine-Büning, Dipl.-Ing. Ralf Uhlig, Dr.-Ing. Björn Schiricke, Dr.-Ing.
