Technical Services successfully certified

Cologne-Porz - Following extensive changes to the internal infrastructure of DLR, the adaptation process for the Technical Services is now complete. Under the management of Peter Georgino, systematic steps have resulted in the development of a customer-oriented service organisation with over 220 employees.

The long road to this achievement was concluded by a jointly structured goal-setting process in which employees of the Technical Services of the various facilities at the sites developed joint aims, strengths and values. The policy of the Technical Services with its guidelines, the unified processes, and the specified programme with its aims also satisfied the evaluators of certification company Deloitte Cert. They confirmed that the Technical Services have achieved a high degree of professionalism, similar to that found in aviation, industrial research and large infrastructure service providers.

The evaluators reviewed the facilities at the sites in Oberpfaffenhofen, Berlin and Cologne in the form of a matrix audit. The operative focus was in the south, but the audits were also supported by video conferencing technology.

The association was certified in its entirety, therefore all participants share the responsibility for the success of the organisation as a whole. The organisational structure of the Technical Services stands out in that the management system with its individual organisational units is organised from a central office.

The type of audit performed is a fully valid version of the certification as per DIN EN ISO 9001 and 14001. The successfully attained certificate represents confirmation from an independent certifying body that the Technical Services are pursuing the aims of implementing the strategic specifications of the DLR corporation and operating at a uniformly high level in the long term. Our internal customers, corporate management and our public and private clients demand this confirmation.

The certification cycle will last three years. The annual monitoring audits are not limited to the headquarters alone; as the certificate is valid for the entire organisation, participating workshops are also checked for any discrepancies through adequate random inspections. Until the next certification audit in three years, the joint standards will be expanded and critically evaluated at regular intervals. The programme of the Technical Services is regularly reviewed and systematically implemented.

The Technical Services (TS) are a service organisation of DLR, which in addition to the Systemhaus Technik (SHT) also includes DLR building management and security.
