Education: From 1960 to 1966 studies of Mechanical Engineering and Aerospace Technologies at the University of Stuttgart, Germany.

Professional Activities:

  • From 1966 to 1974 DLR-Research Associate at the Institute of Chemical Propulsion and Chemical Engineering of the DLR in Lampoldshausen, Germany.
  • In 1971 Doctorate of Engineering at the Technical University of Aachen, Germany.
  • From 1976 to 2005 Head of the Systems Analysis and Technology Assessment Division at the Institute of Technical Thermodynamics of the DLR in Stuttgart, Germany.
Working fields:
Technological and economic assessment and evaluation related to new energy systems with special emphasis on renewable energy use, hydrogen technologies, community energy supply, efficient use of energy and new transportation technologies (e.g. fuel cells). Scenario calculations and computer modelling as well as evaluation of market potential and diffusion of these technologies. Numerous publications in these fields.
