Macro level: The determination of the usage potential and the resulting development of the future demand should be proceeded in successive working steps: First, population groups have to be determined, which could be able to cover their mobility demand by using plug-in hybrid vehicles because of their current mobility profiles. Based on existing empirical data sources, these groups have to be described in terms of quality and quantity. As a second step, the future development of the traffic demand for electromobility should be determined in terms of quality and quantity by deployment scenarios. Current forecasts and the usage potential, which was identified in the first working step, are the basis for the scenario development.
Micro level: The individual mobility behaviour is highly influenced by each person's socio-demographic characteristics and current living conditions as well as its specific attitudes and preferences. The latter partially result from personal experiences, for example with individual modes of transport. In the course of the fleet test, especially those experiences should be collected and analysed, which were made in the context of long-term usage of the test vehicles. Three aspects have to be considered: On the one hand, the compilation of the mobility behaviour during the fleet test as well as the compilation of individual attitudes towards electromobility before and after the fleet test, enable the verification and appropriate adaptions of those assumptions which are part of the development of demand scenarios. On the other hand, the practical dealing with the vehicle, especially its subjective evaluation by the user, provides valuable information for the design of vehicles and their market launch. This applies not only to car manufacturers, but even more to accompanying political measures.
