Dirk Heinrichs currently coordinates the DLR research initiative on Transport Development and the Environment (VEU). He has a range of research interests that cover planning and policy of urban development and urban mobility. His recent work focuses on understanding suburbanization and social-spatial differentiation in Latin American cities, prospects and limitations of local climate adaptation strategies, and linkages between residential land use and mobility. Dirk teaches these subjects in Postgraduate Programmes at the Technische Universität Berlin and the Vietnamese-German University in Ho Chi Minh City. His work is published internationally. Most recently he edited the book Risk Habitat Megacity. He further serves as manuscript reviewer for a range of scientific journals.
