THE DLR INSTITUTE OF TRANSPORT RESEARCH WILL COLLABORATE WITH THE ÖKO-INSTITUTE FOR ECOLOGICAL RESEARCH ON THE PROJECT "RENEWABILITY - MATERIAL FLOW ANALYSIS FOR SUSTAINABLE MOBILITY IN THE CONTEXT OF RENEWABLE ENERGY UNTIL 2030", FINANCED BY THE GERMAN MINISTRY OF THE ENVIRONMENT. AN ANALYTICAL TOOL WILL BE DEVELOPED WITHIN THE PROJECT FOR EXAMINING THE POTENTIALS AND OBSTACLES FACED BY SUSTAINABLE MOBILITY AND THE POSSIBLE RECIPROCITIES IN THE FINANCING OF SUSTAINABLE ENERGIES. THE PROJECT TAKES ADVANTAGE OF A MATERIAL FLOW ANALYSIS TO ESTABLISH THE ECOLOGICAL AND ECONOMIC EFFECTS OF VARIOUS MOBILITY SCENARIOS.
THE TASK OF THE INSTITUTE OF TRANSPORT RESEARCH IS TO IDENTIFY THE TRANSPORT DEMAND, DEPENDANT ON THE CONTROL MEASURES AND TECHNOLOGIES USED IN DIFFERENT SCENARIOS. THE EXTRAPOLATION TO 2030 WILL BE CALIBRATED WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF THE TRAFFIC FORECAST 2025 FROM THE GERMAN MINISTRY OF TRANSPORT, BUILDING AND URBAN AFFAIRS, OR OTHER STUDIES PRODUCED BEFORE THE REPORT APPEARS.
A MICROSCOPIC MODEL USING THREE SAMPLE REGIONS, DEVELOPED BY US FOR THIS PURPOSE, WILL BE USED TO CALCULATE PASSENGER TRANSPORT SCENARIOS. THIS TOOL FACILITATES A VERY PRECISE REPRODUCTION OF THE BEHAVIORAL DIFFERENCES BETWEEN DIFFERENT GROUPS OF PEOPLE, AS WELL AS THE DIFFERENT LEVELS OF SENSITIVITY TO CONTROL MEASURES, DEPENDING ON FRAMEWORK CONDITIONS. THE RESULTS WILL BE PREPARED IN A MACRO MODEL IN ORDER TO REACH CONCLUSIONS APPLICABLE TO THE WHOLE OF GERMANY.
A CENTRAL CHALLENGE IN MODELING AND SIMULATING THE EFFECTS OF CONTROL MEASURES ON FREIGHT TRANSPORT IS TO ADEQUATELY REFLECT STAKEHOLDERS WHO ARE AFFECTED BY OR ARE REACTING TO THESE MEASURES (E.G. SHIPPING AGENTS AND LOGISTICS SERVICE PROVIDERS). THIS IS MADE POSSIBLE USING AGENT-BASED MODELING THAT DIRECTLY LINKS THE RESPECTIVE BASIS DATA WITH THE BEHAVIORAL PARAMETERS OF THE STAKEHOLDERS FOR THE CHANGES DEFINED IN THE INDIVIDUAL SCENARIOS.
IN ADDITION TO MODELING TRANSPORT DEMAND, THE DLR INSTITUTE OF TRANSPORT RESEARCH WILL ALSO ANALYZE THE INFLUENCES AND CORRELATIONS AFFECTING THE PURCHASE BEHAVIOR OF NEW PASSENGER AND FREIGHT VEHICLES, AS THE CHOICE OF A PARTICULAR VEHICLE IS OF GREAT IMPORTANCE WITH REGARD TO FUTURE ENVIRONMENTAL EFFECTS. HERE THE EFFECTS OF BOTH TECHNICAL AND PRICE-BASED MEASURES ON THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE NEW VEHICLES ENTERING THE MARKET WILL BE ASSESSED.
THE CENTRAL TEAM IN THE PROJECT WILL BE FORMED BY THE ÖKO-INSTITUT (PROJECT MANAGEMENT) AND THE DLR INSTITUTE OF TRANSPORT RESEARCH; FURTHER SCIENTIFIC PARTNERS IN THE COLLABORATIVE PROJECT WILL INCLUDE THE INSTITUTE OF ENERGY AND ENVIRONMENTAL RESEARCH HEIDELBERG (IFEU), THE INSTITUTE OF ENERGETICS AND ENVIRONMENT LEIPZIG (IE) AND THE PROFESSOR FOR TRAFFIC FLOW STUDIES AT THE TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY OF DRESDEN.
