Documentation
The designations H3, H5, M2 etc. are abbreviations for specific flame conditions and are part of the respective directory and file names in the data archives.
Measured and documented quantities available for all flames: T (determined from density) and concentrations of O2, N2, H2, and H2O. For the flame V1 temperature was determined both from density and Rayleigh scattering. Additionally, NO concentrations were measured in the flames H5, M2, MA, MB, MC and MD. For the flame V1 concentrations of CO, CO2, and CH4 are also available.
Radial profiles of reported quantities have been measured at different x/D positions which are specified in the following short description of each flame. Number of samples at each position was 300 except for flame V1.
More detailed information about measurements in the flames H3 and C1/C2/C3 are given in [1], about M2, MA-MD, and H5 in [2], and about V1 in [3].
Data evaluation
The data have been corrected for background in the Rayleigh channel, for laser-induced fluorescence in the Raman channels, and for cross talk between the Raman channels. A detailed description of the procedure of data evaluation is in progress and will be published.
At some locations near the flame base the fluorescence (of C2, PAHs etc.) in the Raman channels exceeded the Raman signal, especially in samples with mixture fractions between f=0.2 and 0.3. As a consequence, a correction due to fluorescence was difficult and the results of those samples are not reliable and have been filtered out. The number of evaluated samples are indicated in the header of each file. The number of unused samples was less than 100 (except at x/D=5, r=7.0). Nevertheless, it should be kept in mind, that the procedure of filtering may affect the statistics.
