 \nOn 20 August\, the closing event of the 10th DLR Design Challenge take p
 lace. This year’s ambitious task was to develop a small aircraft that wo
 uld serve as a flexible\, flying testbed for future aviation technologies 
 and that could actually be built and flight-tested in the coming years. To
  bridge the gap between laboratory tests and real-world application\, the 
 16 student teams were given four months to identify key future technologie
 s and integrate them digitally into a modular aircraft that they had to de
 sign themselves – and\, for the first time\, with the opportunity to con
 sult experienced mentors from the German Aerospace Centre (DLR). The HYDRA
  demonstrator aircraft\, developed by the Technical University of Braunsch
 weig\, was selected as the most successful entry in the 10th Design Challe
 nge 2026.
