Supporting the next generation at DLR

The German Aerospace Center (DLR) has many different initiatives in place to support the next generation of researchers. These begin with the student laboratories, the DLR_School_Labs, as well as many other education programmes. The DLR_School_Labs have now inspired a fascination for research in more than 300,000 children and young people. Students can find a broad range of exciting options here. DLR also supports members of its staff who are pursuing doctorates with a high-quality qualification programme. All of these activities are brought together under the DLR_Campus programme.

The 'student and youth projects' part of Germany’s National Space Programme aims to introduce students and young people to the results of space research and, more importantly, to their application to important governmental, scientific, and economic problems, using specifically selected examples and areas of interest.

DLR Design Challenge

Already during your studies, you can steer aeronautical engineering in new directions with your own ideas. Developing designs for efficient, low-emission and environmentally friendly aircraft that address the challenges faced by the world now and in the future. This is the task that the German Aerospace Center (DLR) has been setting students throughout Germany since 2017. Each year, a different topic is addressed as part of the DLR Design Challenge.
