Maritime Security at DLR
Maritime security research is oriented towards the needs of authorities and organisations that undertake security-related tasks, as well as operators of critical maritime infrastructure. With its research, DLR makes an important contribution to protecting the population and rescue workers in the event of a crisis or disaster.
Civil Security and Dual-Use
Civil security research focuses on the research and development of solutions to protect citizens and critical infrastructure from damage caused by natural disasters and major accidents, threats posed by terrorism, and organised crime. These solutions contribute to improving the security of citizens and thus their quality of life and to strengthening the civil security economy.
Defence technology research
In the interest of mutual research and technology transfer, defence technology topics are integrated into DLR's multidisciplinary civil research activities. The aim is to make the best possible use of synergies and to supplement the portfolio with specific defence technology aspects through research and development projects.
Large-scale research facilitiesThe portfolio at DLR currently comprises some 180 large-scale research facilities at 15 locations, including the polar regions. DLR also makes its large-scale facilities available to partners from industry and academia as part of its cooperative research activities.
