The Institute of Aeroelasticity has extensive experience in modelling landing and ground loads. In particular, its work involves the determination of realistic loads for the design, as well as their effects on the design of the landing gear and the structure of the aircraft. For the very first time, a comprehensive concept for the landing gear design has been created for a blended wing body transport aircraft. The work of the Institute also includes analysis of landing gear dynamics (shimmy and brake-induced vibrations). Multi-body models are used for these investigations. The Institute developed its own design method for the conceptual and preliminary design of landing gear. Models have been developed for the landing gear dynamics of a military transport aircraft and exported in a real-time flight simulation.
